With 20 markers in three games, Sweden leads the tournament in goals scored, despite not having one player among the scoring leaders.

Subbing in for starter Jones Johansson, Swedish goaltender Ebbe Sionas made a nice pad save while rolling on his back to keep the score at 0-0 in the first period. His teammate Andre Burakowsky repaid the effort, taking the puck alone into the Slovak zone, undressing the defender and roofing the puck home for the 1-0 lead.

Slovak goaltender David okolicany was beaten again with a high shot in the second period, coming again from Burakowsky. A third goal came off a shot from Robert Haag that was tipped in front by Leon Bristedt for the 3-0 lead.

The highlight of the game was a coast-to-coast effort from Anton Karlsson, who handled the puck through nearly the entire Slovak team before finishing the play in the back of the net.

Slovakia tried to make things interesting in the third, after one of their players was taken out of the game by a check to the head from Jacob de la Rose, who received a 20-minute game misconduct on the play. David Soltes cut the Swedish lead to 4-2 with 12 minutes remaining in the game, but the Slovaks weren’t able to muster any more goals after that, while Sweden added another in the final minutes of the game.

Sweden (3W-0L) has one game left in the preliminary round, against Canada, a team currently sitting in second place behind the Swedes in Group B. That game, to be played on Tuesday, will likely decide the top seed for the group and a more favourable quarter-final playoff matchup for the winner.

Slovakia (0W-3L) will have its final preliminary round game against Germany, also winless. The loser of that game will head to the relegation round.
